Get To Know Us Better

Little Strides, Big Hearts & Boundless Dreams

The first years of a child’s life are the most formative, during which time foundations are laid for emotional intelligence, language and literacy skills, as well as the important development of social skills and cognitive thinking. We believe that each child deserves equal consideration in their learning abilities and phases of development, as well as equal opportunities for success, in order to reach for the stars.

Our days include breakfast, morning ring, lessons and art activities, as well as lunch time and playing. We often enjoy activities and plan fun events for our students, such as picnics, movie and PJ days and dress up days.

A balance of age appropriate lessons, the correct tools for growth, indoor and outdoor playtime and theme inspired arts and crafts activities keep our little ones busy and having fun all day long.

Curriculum & Education

Star Class

This class is for babies from 3 Months to 18 Months old.

Rest assured that your baby is given all the attention and care that he or she requires in our Star Classroom. Our welcoming nursery is painted in soft pastel colours that promote calmness, while infant play areas are interactive and sensory enriched to inspire natural curiosity, where each new discovery is a delight.

Little ones in nursery care have plenty of space for quiet and active play inside and outside, while our devoted careers allow each child to explore their individual abilities and interests at their own pace. Each baby is given their own cot in the nursery area and will be carefully always monitored.

One primary caregiver and an assistant are assigned to the Star Class, working together to build the foundations of trust, bonding and stability that infants under the age of 2 rely on for a healthy development.

Sea World Class

This class is for babies from 18 Months to 2 Years old.

Between 18 months and 2 years old, children love playing and exploring, and our Sea World Class provides safe stimulation and plenty of opportunities for fun. This class is led by a teacher and a teacher’s assistant, who are fully engaged and interested in your child’s development and growth.

This is the right time in your child’s development to encourage some independence. Children are taught to turn the pages of a book, recognize parts of the body by name, stack blocks, sing and move to music and understand words. Their fine motor skills are improved through activities that involve hand and finger precision, like drawing with crayons.  We teach little ones to start eating and drink by themselves, even if it gets a bit messy. Fun learning is the best type of learning!

By the age of 18 months, most babies can walk with confidence and communicate using a few basic words. Unique personality traits emerge, and we learn to recognise what your child needs to feel happy and loved.

Rainbow Class

This class is for toddlers from 2 to 3 Years old.

By teaching, caring and being fully present, our teachers are preparing young minds for all the possibilities of a bright future. Toddlers are fuelled by an eagerness to explore and appreciate the world around them, which requires plenty of attention, stimulation and encouragement in the classroom and on the playground.

The joy of toddlers in our Rainbow Class is truly infectious, contributing to happy and colourful surroundings. These fundamental years are filled with significant milestones that will shape the way your child values themselves, as well as how they perceive and engage with the world around them.

From rhyming, music and creative projects to engaging lessons that develop literacy and language, kids learn something new every day and become more confident in themselves. At this age, toddlers start to form friendships and become more self-aware, turning into little versions of the people they have the potential to grow into. We love the role that we get to play during this stage of their development.

Sunshine Class

This class is for children between 3 – 4 Years old.

By the age of 3, children are more self-assured, independent and observant of their environment. Little ones in our Sunshine Class are easily influenced and require role models that are thoughtful, kind and driven in their actions, all qualities that our Little Phase Crèche teachers pride themselves on.

Guided by monthly themes and CAPS lesson plans, concepts are taught in interesting and memorable ways. Little ones learn through creative projects, storytelling, hands-on activities and play (both indoor and outdoor). We start off our mornings by reciting the 4 seasons in a year, the 7 days of a week, the 12 months of a year, and then colours and shapes. and then pay special individual attention to each child as they complete the morning ring guided by a teacher.

At this age, pre-schoolers start to understand what reading is, while also learning to trace letters of the alphabet, their names and shapes. Conversational speech, pretend play and group activities positively impact our learners’ social and emotional skills. We teach with patience and appreciate the memories we make at school together.

Forest Friends Class

This class is for Pre-Grade R Students from 4 –5 Year Olds.

Our Little Phase Early Pre-School programme is based on the CAPS Pre-School curriculum, and we implement monthly themes to prepare your child for their upcoming primary school education, as well as Grade R. As your child learns and expands their knowledge in various subjects, we encourage creative and independent thinking, and an appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.

Our Pre-Grade R class is led by a qualified and caring teacher. In this class, children are introduced to the fundamentals of mathematics, literacy and language, while also becoming more attuned to their own social, physical and emotional needs. At this age, little ones are still filled with curiosity and excitement, and we fuel their interest in learning so that it may be a lifelong passion.

During this formative year, social skills, decision making skills and problem-solving skills develop quickly. Our educators are attentive and will guide your child when needed, while equipping them with the skills required to explore their own capabilities and interests with confidence. Don’t worry, we still make fun a priority and enjoy plenty of play time during the school day!

Core Values

The children are at the heart of everything we do at Little Phase. Our principal and teachers are caring and devoted individuals. We know that each child has their own unique qualities and learning requirements that should be nurtured and appreciated, while we believe that each child should feel loved, protected and able to be themselves.

Our joy comes from guiding your child through their educare journey, while sharing wonderful moments together along the way. By being empathetic, respectful and compassionate, we are able to influence your child’s ability to be kind, which we know to be the root of many healthy future relationships. Every day brings with it new adventures and opportunities for learning, laughter and love.
